D and E Pizza

If you travel down I-95 south and want a great lunch or dinner then get off in Canton to visit D and E Pizza. One of the best pizzas I have had. They make both Italian and Greek which is a lot of work. I have had the chance to watch their grill cook and he is old school and amazing. He makes you hungry watching him cook. And the big guy who makes pizza moves like a track star around that kitchen. Always a pleasure…..

Pizza pizza

While down in Newport RI on Sunday we stopped in the LoveMarket and had some of their terrific Pizza. Now the pizza they have is in my top 10. I do want to be honest, the General Manager is one of the biggest jerks on the planet with his rude and condescending attitude towards the customers. Back to the pizza, it is great and not too thick not too thin and great fresh toppings. But whose idea was it to serve a slice of pizza in a Chinese Food takeout box? And did these idiots know it doesn’t fit? The pizza get squashed and you have to dig it out making a real mess. Not too swift guys.

Another hidden gem

On a food tip, I stopped by Garden Hills Deli in Cranston RI and saw this little deli with a staff of 6 just cranking out subs. The smell from the Italian food was amazing so I ordered a small meatball and small chicken parm. Both were outstanding and in my top 5 for sure. Make sure you check them out because it’s worth the drive.

Best Subs part 2

So once again we were curious about a restaurant listener’s recommended which is “Rondo’s Subs” in South Boston. We ordered half the menu and had a buffet. EVERYTHING WAS OUT OF THIS WORLD!!! They have been around since 1982 a family business and this place was even visited by the famous Chef/Food Critic Anthony Bourdain. I put my 45 years in the food business to the test and it was absolutely fantastic and they are also in my top 5 in the state. Please visit them and tell them Sheldon in the City sent you there.

Best subs

With our radio show on WNRI 99.9 FM in Rhode Island we get a ton of calls and emails about who has the best this or that. Everyone’s tastes are different so we may not agree but when we do we talk a lot about it. Last month we heard Doug Flutie brag about his hometown favorite Corrado’s Subs in Natick. The fact that someone as famous as Flutie spoke about it on National Television we had to check it out. AMAZING!!! We told them who we were and we ordered a Steak n Cheese sub and a Chicken Parmesan sub. Both were in our top 5 in the state. Please check them out and let them know Sheldon in the City told you to go there. Please listen to our show every Thursday morning at 9:00 am by going online to WNRI.com and click on the “listen live” button.
